Germán Carranza is back. Let's gooooo! We got three different lots from Germán this year and thrilled to be working with him via Yellow Rooster Coffee Imports for the third consecutive harvest. First up, is this super special washed lot of the BIG Maragogipe variety. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eJustin has a cool connection and history with the Carranza family dating back to 2015ish when he was sourcing some Peruvian coffees for a previous employer and this beaut of a coffee came before me from producer Ronal Carranza. Ronal's coffee was so impactful to him that it essentially etched a 'type' in his mind... A type of coffee and cup profile he knew he always wanted that was saturated in raspberry sweetness and milk chocolates. Fast forward a decade or so, and my bud Joel of Yellow Rooster was working with a producer from the same region named Germán Carranza. Sure enough, Germán is Ronal's nephew and he is really pushing the boundaries of what Peruvian coffee can be via variety experimentation and processing. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs told by Yellow Rooster: \u003cem\u003eThis coffee comes from Germán’s farm named El Bebedero, located in the scenic village Gracias a Dios, in the Peruvian department Amazonas.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eOur relationship with German and his family started in 2019, which has allowed our business trips to origin to turn into visits with friends.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eWe’ve had the pleasure of visiting El Bebedero three times now, with Germán and his beautiful family as our hosts. We’ve walked among his healthy trees across the different plots in the farm, his new processing infrastructure and chatted plenty about his plans for future experimental fermentation and expansion. Having purchased as much as we could since 2019, we’ve seen growth not only in the cup scores and quality year after year, but also as a visionary leader among his family and community.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003ePeru is a coffee power house and we believe it does not yet get the recognition it totally deserves! It is often an origin associated with lower quality Fair Trade, or washed “blender” coffees. But Peru is an incredibly diverse landscape with micro climates all throughout where producers are doing amazing things and working to show that they have so much more to offer. Germán Carranza and his family are some of those producers who are pushing the boundaries and we are really excited to see what they will offer in the harvests to come.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/em\u003eThis lot of the maragogipe variety is unlike any maragogipe we've ever tasted.  In many cases, this variety can come across a touch on the savory side, nice but textural body and lower acidity.  Germán's lot couldn't be more different.  \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eYou can expect pointed and loud citrus qualities kin to Cara Cara oranges that is complimented with a great strawberry sweetness (kinda unique note for us on a washed coffee).  Some more red fruit qualities come out as it cools alongside a sweet graham cracker soft spice note in the finish.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis is a truly unique coffee and super hyped to be able to showcase this variety grown by the expert hands of Germán.  This is a smaller quantity that we got our hands on so grab a bag while you can.  But, more from Germán to come in '26!\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Enjoy Coffee Roasters","offers":[{"title":"10 oz","offer_id":52234698293522,"sku":"SQ4724156","price":31.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"1 kg","offer_id":52234698326290,"sku":"SQ4724157","price":110.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0838\/9492\/7634\/files\/Enjoy_German_Maragogipe.png?v=1777597957","url":"https:\/\/enjoycoffeeroasters.com\/products\/german-carranza-mara","provider":"Enjoy Coffee Roasters","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
